It's reveal day for this Parisian bedroom makeover, which belongs to Diana, a sweet young lady who is one of my daughter's friends. I must thank her for trusting me, allowing me to move things around, and having fun decorating her bedroom.
Before moving on to the pretty pictures, I must show you the starting point. Diana had recently moved into her new apartment and was still undecided about how to decorate her room. She has a good-sized room with high ceilings (9 ft), a big window that lets in lots of light, a walk-in closet, and a bathroom on the opposite side.

After touring the room and taking some pictures, these four areas in the room had to be addressed:
1. The bed and the wall behind it are usually the focal point in a bedroom.
2. The window and that wall surrounding it.
3. The desk and T.V. areas
4. The mirror on a small wall between the closet doors and bath.
I went home to organize my decorating plan and searched Marketplace, Craiglist, and a few local thrift stores, trying to find all the elements needed in this room at a great price.
The room needed nightstands, light fixtures, wall art, curtains, etc.
Once I got all I needed, I returned to give this room the glamour and pizzazz my young client wanted.
My very first task was to climb onto that ladder and try to remove the ceiling fan light cover. I wanted to exchange it for a drum shade. However, after inspection, I noticed two bulbs and how intricate they were installed, so I dropped that idea. I didn't want my client to have trouble installing it when she had to return the apartment. Remember, this is a rental.
Well, it's reveal time!

OK, let's move on to the pretty pictures!
This is the view standing at the entrance door.
1. THE FOCAL POINT
The gallery wall sets the mood with its pretty and romantic prints and also gives the enormous wall lots of character with the asymmetrical gallery/black frames.

I shared all the details about how you can also install these Ribba frames without using nails or screws on the wall right HERE. Yes, it's renter's friendly!

The bed got a few extra pillows and white linens, which are a staple in most of my rooms, and I also added a skirt to the bed.
My client's duvet cover and comforter couldn't work any better.

Roses set the romantic tone up a notch.
2. THE WINDOW
I can't get enough of this view! What a big difference a simple set of curtains made in this room's overall feel.
These soft blush pink blackout curtains provide warmth, height, and privacy, and darken the room when needed.
3. THE DESK & T.V. AREA
That back wall got the most straightforward treatment: irregular dot wall decals were the understated charm this wall needed to balance out what was happening on the other side of the room.
I exchanged the tall boy's chest for a smaller bookcase I had in my basement storage. The dark color better fit the room from the light stain the former chest had.
I also like the extra storage and the fact that the T.V. is at a better viewing height.
The desk was removed from the corner and placed in front of the window. Don't you like it better here?
Lot's more light when working during the day and a view!
I replaced the folding chair in the room with this pretty chair I found at a local thrift store. In fact, I scored two of these Duncan Phyfe chairs for only five dollars. One of the chairs was barely put together, but this one was in better shape. Before bringing it to this room, I gave it a lot of TLC.

I sanded off the previous glossy stain and gave it a fresh walnut finish. The pretty details were highlighted in gold, and the seat cushion was reupholstered.
You can check out all the details about this chair makeover right HERE.
4. THE MIRROR
No more frameless mirrors in this charming bedroom! This big antique mirror was another piece I dug out of my basement. It sported a white frame that didn't do any justice to the ornate details this mirror possessed.
I used a simple painting technique to bring it back to life, and I adore how it turned out. Let's keep this type of ornate mirror GOLD!

Well my friends, details and more details are also a big part of any room makeover...
Fairy lights, the softest rug, a small pouf where to sit to take the shoes off.
A luxurious silky robe!
The pretty Fleur-de-Lis wall hook was a happy Etsy find.

The nightstands were a Craiglist find, and my client's treasures and/or belongings were the perfect accent for decorating this Parisian bedroom makeover.
I hope you have enjoyed this bedroom makeover. It would mean the world if you could share it through your social media channels.
