Don't you love paint makeovers? It's so gratifying changing something just by painting it a new color! If your project is something small, like this little tray that I happened to change a few days ago, well, it's even better... Instant gratification! :)
It's been a while since the last time I did a small paint project. I might need to change that because I'm so very happy that after 30 minutes, (drying time included) I ended up with a tray that looks like I just bought it!
Ha, the reality is far from it.
This is the tray I got a few years ago at a flea market. I got it because it's a wooden tray with a glass bottom. The color and the paper underneath the glass were hideous, but I could see past that.

Well, I brought it up last week to use it around the main rooms, but the lilac needed to go.
And this iridescent gold color by Golden Artist Colors has been my favorite color lately. The pigment load is high, it has good intensity and it's a true gold color.
I separated the tray frame from the wooden and glass bottom and gave it two coats of gold.

The wooden base or bottom was covered with marble contact paper. It couldn't be any easier!

Once the paint dried the tray was assembled back together.
The glass gives the marble surface some extra sheen.
I've been collecting so much stuff that every time I'm about to buy something new, I need to pause for a moment and think about what I can reuse and bring new life into something I already have!

I had all the materials for this little makeover, it feels like a win-win. ;)
And please tell me I'm not the only one with a whole bunch of junk that needs to be spruced up!

I love it! The addition of the glass is a nice bit of something extra. It is practical and will also insure longevity too. Hugs P.S> I invite you to stop by and share at my link party TFT ( from Thursday to Saturday)
