Hey there,
I'm back with the plans for this simple build: An office shelf.
During my last post, I talked about how I went to my daughter's rescue when she was given an empty office as her headquarters and well, I couldn't leave her alone on the task of furnishing the space and making it comfy.
A couple of simple builds and inexpensive wall decor were the elements I put together to create a more comfortable work environment.
For this shelf, I used rough 2 X 2 material I already had on hand. It was a bit of a pain to use that material, it wasn't straight and I had to do lots of sanding. I recommend you use select pine boards instead.

Supplies
- 6 - 2x2x6 select pine boards
- 2 - 2x2x8 select pine boards
- 4 - 3/4" plywood boards -12x48 ea
- measuring tape and pencil
- miter saw
- pocket hole jig
- Kreg 90 degree angle clamp
- sander
- wood glue
- edge banding
- iron
- 2 1/2" pocket hole screws & 3/4" pocket hole screws
- 1 1/4" wood screws
1. Cut your 2x2 material as follows:
Legs: 6 @ 6' & 15 @ 12"
Back supports : 2 @ 48"
2. Set the pocket hole jig to make the holes for 2 1/2" screws. Make them strategically so they get hidden and there's no need to finish them.
3. Assemble the legs using the 2 1/2" pocket hole screws. Use the Kreg 90 degree angle clamp
for easier assembling.
4. Finish the rough sides of the plywood shelves with edge banding. Ironing it and then, trimming the excess.

6. Secure the back supports at the top and lower back of the shelf using 2 1/2" wood screws.
I added four back supports, but the entire shelf only needs two. - Mr. RLC was helping me assemble it that day and he always thinks more is more. ;)
This is how the shelf looked in place:
THE FINISH
The shelves were finished with two coats of Behr Simply white -Satin - The base got one coat of Rust-oleum charcoal.
