Isn't he cute??
That's our Louie, our little Yorkshire Terrier, and I apologize for waiting too long, almost a year, to properly introduce him around here (he's had his debut on Instagram 😉).
Well, this post is a tool review, but here I am showing you pictures of this little guy you haven't seen much on the blog.
Let me tell you very shortly why. - Louie is our first pet. We've never dared to have a pet because any pet would drive Mister RLC completely nuts! My son asked so many times for a dog, but every time he asked, his dad said nope, no way.
So, how did we end up with Louie?
What started as a pet-sitting favor for a friend turned into pet ownership after our friend lost his battle against cancer. This was a bittersweet way for our family to experience the joy of having a pet.
After living with Louie for a few months, I knew I had to do something to tame the amount of hair and dust that was invading our home. Not that dust and dirt didn't accumulate before having him, but they kind of doubled after he came to live with us.

Here he is at his favorite spot.
We controlled the barking, but he still closely watched those passersby. :D
And that's one of the spots where, as my friend said perfectly, "hairballs roll across the floor like tumbleweeds in the Wild West!"
When given the option to pick a power tool to try in one of my upcoming projects, I didn't hesitate much. I needed a lightweight vacuum cleaner to keep my sanity.
I've been using the RYOBI Stick Vacuum Cleaner for three months now.
It's the first cordless, lightweight vacuum I've had in my entire life, and I'm in love!
I like that it's cordless, and I love that it belongs to the Ryobi ONE+ platform, which means I can use any of my Ryobi batteries to put this vacuum to good use.
The Ryobi Stick Vacuum has a crevice tool, dust brush, charging mount, accessory storage, and a 4.0Ah Ryobi battery.
The Evercharge technology means the vacuum is charged and ready to clean when you are. You place your vac there on the docking station, which immediately connects through the vacuum to the battery.
You can keep track of the battery power by looking at the measuring lights on the battery itself...
Or the lights below the handle where a green light tells you what's happening.

Or the lights below the handle where a green light tells you what's happening.
When both green lights are flashing, the battery is being evaluated.
When the right side light flashes, the battery is charging. Solid lights mean the battery is fully charged.
The dust brush and crevice tool can be neatly stored by the side of the vacuum.
And I usually keep the power head on the tool and ready to vacuum floors. It runs on two wheels and lays flat on the floor, which is great for cleaning those hard-to-reach places. The roller starts spinning as soon as you turn on the vacuum.
The brushless motor provides better suction and longer run time. The specifications claim that you can run this vacuum for 45 minutes on one 4.0Ah battery, but that's at a lower speed. On high speed, it should run for 25 minutes. But the reality is, I have always had a battery. I usually do one-hour cleanings or one-room cleanings, so I end up with more battery than needed.
If you ask me if this small vacuum can replace one of the big sisters, I might say no. But again, maybe. I haven't used my big vacuum cleaner in a loooong time.
The vacuum has two speeds that you can change by pressing the power button.

I usually use the high speed when vacuuming carpets, and the lower speed is used when cleaning hardwood floors.
Each of the accessories can connect directly to the console and the extension wand.
I use the extension wand and dust brush to clean the moldings high on the wall. The crevice tool is the way to go to clean my minivan or to catch all the dust balls in the corners of the rooms!
Cleaning the dust cup is easy!

I prefer cleaning the steps by removing the extension wand and using either of the accessory tools.
Cleaning the dust cup is easy!
Push the bottom of the cup to open the top flap to remove dirt, or push the button on the side to completely remove the dust cup to remove dirt and clean the filter.
I must thank this little guy for pushing me to try this wonderful tool!!

So sorry about the loss of your friend and how sweet of y'all to make that cute baby a part of your family. Louie, must be a mix because yorkies don't barely shed at all. That's why so many people with allergies get them as a pet. I would like to get a cordless vacuum so I don't have to pull out the big gun so often.
ReplyDeleteOh Kim, he's been a blessing to our family. 💓 And the one who didn't want a pet is the one that is spoiling Louie the most! 😃 You're right, he must be a mix.
DeleteBless you for taking in sweet Louie. He is adorable! Dogs bring a lot of joy and companionship to a family, and a lot of dog hair!
ReplyDeleteWhen my husband vacuums and empties it into the garbage can, it looks like there is another dog in there. We have to Bassett - mix rescued dogs and they are our children.
Now that our kids are 15 and 21, Louie is our little kid, our home feels more alive. And yeah, the amount of hair is insane! :)
DeleteTo be able to use it on multiple surfaces.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry about the loss of your friend.
ReplyDeleteYou've gotten me hooked on Ryobi Plus One tools. I'm so happy not to have to drag out extension cords!
What are those?? :D :D No really, I haven't used extension cords in a looooooong time!
DeleteI have been looking at stick vacs, so this would be a fabulous choice.
ReplyDeletethe most important feature in a cordless vacuum would be the battery life! I love the Ryobi products!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet way to become a dog owner! This vacuum looks amazing. I have 5 children and this would be great for all of their messes. We drag our shop vac around the house to vacuum our stairs this would be wonderful to use on our stairs.
ReplyDeleteHI, the most important feature for me would be power and battery life! I use Ryobi consistently for yard work. love it
ReplyDeleteI would say that battery life is the most important thing! Thanks for a great giveaway!
ReplyDeleteSuction is the most important factor. I always have concerns about aby battery powered tool.
ReplyDeleteThe most important feature is good suction!
ReplyDeleteBattery life hands down!
ReplyDeleteI think that battery life, and portability is important
ReplyDeleteYour little dog is adorable! I have TWO tiny Chihuahuas and the amount of hair on the floor, couch, etc. is unbelievable.
ReplyDeleteHi Julie, yeah I remember those adorable Chichuahuas on your blue chairs.
DeleteThanks for the detailed review. Our previous cordless vac worked well until the battery would no longer hold a charge for more than a couple minutes. This looks so cool and having a ONE+ that can charged and/or swapped out as needed is a huge plus.
ReplyDeletesuction power would be the number one priority for a cordless vacuum.
ReplyDeleteI love that it is easy to charge and has a small footprint
ReplyDeleteSuction power is number one in my book!
ReplyDeleteGood suction
ReplyDeleteTo be able to use it on any surface!
ReplyDeleteThe ease of cleaning it out!
ReplyDeletePowerful suction and charge
ReplyDeleteIf it's durable against pet hair
ReplyDeleteThat it's really good at picking up dog hair.
ReplyDeleteDurability is an important factor in buying a vacuum. I seem to always get vacuums that don't last that long.
ReplyDeleteAs the proud owner of a beautiful & hairy black lab-and the soon to be mama of a little boy, I need to get a vacuum cleaner in my life! I've been living in our home with hardwood floors with only a broom, swiffer, and mop but I know a vacuum would come in so much handy. I think the number one thing is run-time, you don't want to run out of juice when you're halfway through the job!

Southern and Style
Lightweight so it's not hard to lug it up and down my stairs! I actually have two vacuum cleaners because of this which seems silly but our old one is really heavy!
ReplyDeletethe weight of the vacuum and its reach
ReplyDeleteThe most important feature of a cordless vac would be battery time and suction ability.
ReplyDeleteBattery life would be the most important to me. Cordless would be great so I don’t ya e to keep plugging and unplugging when I leave a room.
ReplyDeleteBeing cord free is an awesome feature able to move freely through the home and get every spot.
ReplyDeleteEase of use would be the best benefit!!
ReplyDeleteLift-away handheld vacuum
ReplyDeleteThe most important feature would be the fact it's cordless. That's such a benefit not having to mess with extension cords.
ReplyDeleteThe most important feature is how well it picks up the dirt and debris. On a Ryobi product, I'm not really worried about battery life since I have several other batteries and chargers because I have a number of Ryobi tools already and a Ryobi vacuum would be excellent to clean up the mess from the other tools.
ReplyDeleteI think the most important feature is how well it picks up. I'd love to have a rechargeable vacuum that picks up great to easily clean up messes in my kitchen!
ReplyDeleteHolds a charge and has a good capacity.
ReplyDeleteThe accessory tools and has enough power to pick up dog hair and other messes.
ReplyDeleteHow beautifully all the feelings have been conveyed through writing.
ReplyDeletebest vacuum for berber carpet
The weight of the vacuum and the suction power is the most important to me
ReplyDeleteI love that it's cordless and lightweight
ReplyDeleteThe most important feature of a cordless vacume is that it does not loose suction.
ReplyDeleteMost important is power, needs to be able to suction up the messes
ReplyDeleteHow easy it is to get to room to room with it.
ReplyDeleteI would have to say all the components of it . So i can take it off and clean my couch or stairs with it if i need to
ReplyDeleteBattery life, I would have to start cleaning and then have to stop due to a dead battery.
ReplyDeletePower is most important. It needs to get up the hair and dirt.
ReplyDeleteIn a cordless vacuum I would say battery life is most important. Followed by good suction since I do have a hairy fur baby!
ReplyDeleteI look for a cordless vacuum with the power to clean up.
ReplyDeleteI would say how many attachments is has.
ReplyDeleteI think the most important feature is the power.
ReplyDeleteThe most important feature to me would be power. I would want it to be able to clean as efficiently as a corded. A lot of times cordless vacuums does not have the same strength as a corded version because the battery is not powerful enough.
ReplyDeleteBattery and suction are the most important.
ReplyDeleteI think suction it the most important feature.
ReplyDeleteI think the most important feature is that the vacuum has enough suction to pick everything up in a household!
ReplyDeleteLouie is absolutely adorable, & what a special story about how he came into your life! 😊 Animals have always been an important part of mine, as well as the messes that accompany... lol. I think the most important feature to me would be the ability to easily use attachments & get into nooks & crannies! Capacity is not as important to me, since our place is very small and I'm happy to empty it after each use. Our big upright vacuum takes up way too much space, alas. :( This one looks amazing!!
ReplyDeleteI need this in my life! My dog sheds everywhere!
ReplyDeletePower is the most important thing for me. It better have suction or what's the use.?
ReplyDeleteThe convenience that it provides and how easy it appears to use.
ReplyDeleteLightweight and powerful is important to me.
ReplyDeleteLove that its lightweight.
