Hi friends!
I'm still at it. Yep, in the garage, cleaning, and organizing.
And I see lots of progress.
And that makes me SO happy! :)
The bench and pegboard were a part of the garage that I didn't use much this past year. Maybe that was
the reason why it got so disorganized, as you can see in the picture below.

The first step to put the order in here was by removing everything from the pegboard and bench.
I even went ahead and removed those pegboards. - The small one on the left was all bowed, and the one on the right was mounted on 2 x 4's that kept on wiggling from side to side. :(
The materials you'll need:
- 1- 4' x 8' Pegboard sheet
- 27.5'- 2 x 2's
- 3 ½" screws to attach the frame to the studs on the wall.
- 1" screws to attach pegboard to the frame
- ¼" washers
- 2 ½" screws to put together the frame.

Install the frame on the wall, making sure it's level. Use 3½" screws.
Installing the pegboard was the hardest part for me. It was kind of impossible to hold the entire sheet with one hand and with the other drive the screws. Mr. RLC was out of town so, I had to call my 13-year-old son to drive those first screws for me.
Ahhh, it looked awesome! Did you notice I gave that left wall a coat of paint?
I wanted to frame the pegboard, but after looking through the garage, my eyes were set on those CD holders laying on the floor - two years on the floor were enough, time to put them to good use! ---> They got trimmed and some supports were added on their backs.
Even though they're heavy, they weren't hard to install because the pegboard frame served as support.
The divisions were nailed in place and little plastic bins ( Easter Baskets 😊) are now holding lots of random stuff. Oh, a chalkboard label was added to the baskets.
Then, it was time to bring the tools and make them look pretty. I changed the direction of the bench, I like it better because I'm not giving my back to the main door.

Making the Most of Every Day
Thanks Sheila! I think I have to begin including him a lot more in my projects, that's the way to learn. He stayed with me for the remaining of the day doing pre-drills and driving screws.
DeleteAWESOME!!!! Dang it...you always do these amazing things and force my hand...lol! Thank goodness I am swamped with work or I would be out gutting my garage today!
ReplyDeletehehe YOU'RE crazy awesome! Thanks for all your input Beck!

DeleteCristina love this! And you're so cute standing by the workbench - we must have ESP! I'm super jealous of your space - want to come do mine?
ReplyDeletehehe, I thought so when I saw your pic! :) Like you, I'm so not comfortable in front of the camera. The mister was the one who convinced me with all the happiness he showed upon his arrival.

I have tool envy😀 Nice job, Christina. A place for everything and everything in its place!
ReplyDeleteLooks fabulous, Cristina! I especially like the horizontal cubbies, what a great idea.
ReplyDeleteVery nice. I just can't decide if I want to go with peg board or corkboard on my bench wall. I keep all my tools in drawers and cabinets, but like how you have it all out where you can see it. Nicely done! - John
ReplyDeleteWow Cristina, this looks awesome. I wish I had an organized space like that, and all of those fabulous tools! ;)
ReplyDeleteYay, it looks sooo awesome and I am sooo jealous, but not really jealous just happy for you!! I am such a slacker, I need to do this so bad, I just keep putting it off! You are my hero!!
ReplyDeleteI am a little jealous of your tool center too. Oh to be so organized. Good job. I bet your hubby will be shocked to see all of your hard work!
ReplyDeleteThis is something that we desperately need to do! Thanks for the ideas. Looking forward to implementing them soon :)
ReplyDeleteI love seeing another woman who loves her tools! :) I am definitely going to use this design to build my pegboard for the garage. Thanks!
