Hi there!
It's been a beautiful week around here and I've been really busy with so many things, yeah, it's one of those weeks when you keep on working and working but at the end you have nothing to show!
This is the perfect time to work outside, so I've been there. The picture above is an
outdoor set -table and four chairs- that I'm trying to clean by removing the rust, so then, they can be painted. Well, Mr. RLC is giving me a big helping hand with this project. :) But it's going to take time, it's not even mid way.
Planting season is upon us and yep, I've been at it too. Well, the the plants look kind of sad now, but let's give them a couple of weeks and I'm pretty sure they'll thrive.
I'm also taking measurements in my living room for some bookcases I want to build in there, I've been searching online for ideas and materials, that's one project I want to start soon. Meanwhile, I'm working on creating this frame for a wall art project, and there's another one in the making, I guess I'll be posting about these in a week or two.
However, what kept me the busiest this week was the kitchen island. While at Home Depot I found these corbels only ten dollars each, so, the painting of the kitchen island was given the green light. :) That's a project I kept on postponing because in reality is not necessary, but in my mind I wanted to tackle it long ago.
Installing the corbels was super easy, they came with screws, anchors if needed, and the wooden covers for the screws. I was even thinking on making my own corbels, but really, they're so cheap and well done, that why bother wasting my time!
Here is a reality shot of my kitchen during a project: A big mess! Tools, pieces of wood, glue, fruits, bowls, coca cola... everything ends up on the island. :/
After emptying and cleaning it it's all ready for paint. If you follow me on Instagram you probably know what color I'm using, I'm loving it! I thought it was going to be ready for reveal this week, but nope, you've to wait until Monday. Sorry about that!
Have a great weekend everyone!

The island is going to look really good, and you were smart getting the corbels from Lowe's. Ugh - the outside furniture looks like hard work with all the grillwork. Let us know if you have any shortcuts that work. I was wondering if you'd be power washing to start, or going right into sanding.
ReplyDeleteThanks Rita! Yeah, the outdoor set is in terrible condition :/ We didn't power washed it, we went right into sanding all those layers of paint.
DeleteWow they really dress the island up!! Good job Cristina!
ReplyDeleteThanks Karen! I'm so excited about the island, its getting a whole new look! :)
DeleteI'm so sure this is your kind of weather Cristina! Good luck with your projects and enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteIt's going to be a beautiful weekend, I'll be sure to spend it outside! Thanks Vel!
DeleteLove the island! I hear you- the number of projects always exceeds the time needed to do them. xo Diana
ReplyDeleteThanks Diana! And it's not only the projects but also the household chores and family needs. :/
DeleteI like your island and I'm interested to see how you change it. I will be needing to make one for my kitchen at some point.
ReplyDeleteThe big change is going to be the color, I can't wait to share it! I'm sure building an island is a piece of cake for you, Julie!
DeleteEse cambio en esa isla es total !! Me gusta mucho la cornisa le da un aspecto más elegante al mueble
