Fabric Heart Ornaments

This project was done for the 12 Days of Christmas Ornaments, I used them on the Christmas tree, but I'm enjoining them once again for Valentine's.

The idea of making the hearts came from remnants of fabrics I had in the basement, I was organizing, and putting away stuff and that's when I saw the fabrics! They were there staring at me and that was the light bulb moment, red fabrics were perfect to make some hearts.

They are all strong fabrics, the red ones are remnants of the projects I shared with you here, here, and here, and the white one is drop-cloth material.

The materials you'll need:
  • Fabric
  • Embroidery thread
  • Ribbon (5" for each)
  • Hand sewing needle
  • Cotton or stuffing material (a big handful for each)
  • Scissors
  • Pencil
  • Heart printable found here

Instructions

Trace the heart pattern on to the fabric.

Cut out two heart shapes for each ornament.

Place both shapes' wrong sides together and begin blanket stitching them all around.

I think they look cute just like this.

But, before you're completely done stitching it together, fill it with cotton or stuffing material.

At the very end, insert the ribbon and continue sewing it, closing the heart and securing the ribbon in place.

I used a stamp to give the drop-cloth fabric an extra heart. ;)

And that's it!

I love how they turned out.

The good thing is, you can use them for Christmas and/or Valentine's.
