A Wire Basket Full of Apples

Almost all of the stuff and decorations I used during Summer time are already packed.  The new season got me buying lots of apples at the closest farmers market and with so many apples at hand the necessity of where to store them made me look at this stand with good eyes :)

A simple stand you used during Summer time. It's not pretty, that's why most of the time, after serving its purpose is simply thrown away.  Well, not this time ;)

The handles were covered with jute rope. Three feet of chicken wire were enough to cover the basket all around.  (Use GLOVES when handling this chicken ;)

Small pieces of wire tied the chicken wire to the bottom of the stand.

And to the top border.

An "aged look" was given by lightly spray painting it with my three magic colors: Black, orange and brown.

A metal tag was then created.  The tag shapes were traced onto a piece of metal duct and cut out, a regular hole punch was used to open the holes where the tag was going to be attach to the basket.

The two metal shapes will become only one tag holder.  This kind of metal can be easily bent as shown in the pictures below.

Paper fasteners can be used to attach it to the basket.  But first it needs to be painted... Once again, trying to give it an aged look.

Three fasteners were used on each side, and some scratches were also done, hmm you already know why ;)

Finally a Yummy! label was added because that's what my daughter says every time I prepare her apple sauce.

The basket is now sitting on the kitchen island holding oranges, squash and mostly apples.

For a delicious and easy apple sauce recipe you should check the one Sarah shares right HERE.

Yummy!
