I'm in a big Valentine's day mood, and I think that's OK as long as it doesn't continue after Valentine's day is over.  The weekend was very cold, but it was a good time for me to finish painting the beams in my bedroom.  In the meantime my daughter came up with this project for today: Valentine treats that she is going to give to her friends, incorporating the clay hearts she made.

The materials you will need:


heart candy bag, clear bags, heart ribbon, polymer clay, cookie cutters


Roll out the clay to an even thickness, she uses that tool that looks like a pasta machine, but you can use a simple roller.

Then it's up to your imagination to create the shapes you want, well, in this case hearts.  Don't forget to poke a little hole to string the ribbon later on. You can use a straw.

Then, they go in the oven to harden.  She set the oven at 275°F, they stayed in there for 15 min.  (she kept on telling me to write about the importance of following the manufacturer instructions because each brand has its own times. ;)

While the hearts were in the oven, someone else was SO willing to help stuff the treat bags.

Once the heart charms cooled down, it was time to tie the ribbon.

Cute, don't you think so?  They can also be used as a necklace charm.

For now they are simply adorning the treats.

    Christina, those are so adorable! Your daughter has obviously inherited your talent. :) I love that she wanted to make sure that everyone followed the manufacturer's directions. Sounds like a born leader to me. And is it my imagination? Or is your son popping some hearts in his mouth while stuffing the bags? So fun that the kids are involved. Have a great week!
