Teen Boy Bedroom Tour

There are two good reasons why I decided to share my teen boy bedroom with you today... First, this is one of the rooms that's completely done. No big projects in here anymore and second, the boy keeps it fairly organized, which makes it super easy to update for the new season. ;)

Almost two years ago, I gave this little room a big makeover, my boy had requested a desk in his room, and whoa... A simple desk was the starting point to transform it and give it some personality.

I brought the desk, but I also built it up, giving the room lots of storage space. Most of the links will take you to the DIY projects done here.

Blue is my latest obsession and now that Spring is here and Summer is around the corner, I think all those pops of blue create a somewhat beachy feel. 

The hexagon pillowcases are an old project repurposing old jeans.

THE DESK AREA

A pair of free, old desks were the base for the build-ins, many of those drawers are still empty. Are all boys like this?

THE ARTWORK

Since I like to change the decor with the seasons, I always try to DIY the artwork. And that's exactly what I did with the art above the bed.

A canvas stretcher, painter's cloth, hot glue, and yarn were the materials needed to create this piece.

THE CLOSET

Closet Makeover  |  Sliding Barn Door

The closet, on the other side of the room, is another space that got a big overhaul.  Instead of a single metal shelf at the top of a plain closet, my boy now has plenty of drawers and shelves where to store his clothing. A vintage sliding barn door replaced a regular door and gave more openness to the closet.

Pillow  |  Step Stool  |  DIY Plywood Floors

These days, Louie, our dog, is the one who uses this step stool the most. I kept it here for my son to step on it to reach the top shelves in his closet, but now he doesn't need it anymore. They grow up so fast! 😔

Well, the good thing is, he got the room he wanted and it will fit him perfectly as he continues growing and turning into a young man and beyond.

Here, are some pretty decor touches, that I'm pretty sure he hasn't noticed. :D

Succulents in pretty planters and white lanterns to bring that beachy vibe subtly.
