Don't you love home tour week?
I sure do!
It's a week full of home decor ideas that you can most certainly bring to your home.
You'll find the links to all the other 29 homes on this tour at the end of this post. I need to send a big thank you to Marty from A Stroll Thru Life, our wonderful host who always puts together the most fun and distinct tours. There's inspiration for everyone!
If you're coming from my friend Heather from Setting For Four, I'm so glad you made it here. It's hard to depart from a home that looks glamorous yet cozy and inviting, isn't it?
My style has changed a lot over the years. In the 90s, I loved all those deep tones of the era. Then, I went through a modern black-and-white phase, and lately, I've gotten into the modern farmhouse style, where I can clearly see little bits of the other styles making their appearance throughout.
So, let's start at the heart of the home, the kitchen.

Kitchen Makeover | Kitchen Stool | Light Pendant | School House Ceiling Light |
I love getting into DIY projects to bring change to my home. My rooms are constantly evolving, and the kitchen is a good representation of that statement.
Last Fall, I decided to paint the cabinets and island a fresh coat of gray. Ha, I couldn't stop there. The range hood got changed, and the lights and the hardware followed. I keep calling it a mini-makeover because it's more manageable than the one done before. Painting the cabinets the second time around is less convoluted than the first time.
Most of the links in this post take you to each project I've tackled in each room.
Flowers are the best decor accent to give to a room anytime during the year. I found the gorgeous flowering branches at Trader Joe's, and they make me so happy. They remind me of the many trips we have made to see the cherry blossoms in DC.

Eggs, coffee, tea...
Weekend breakfast was in order.
The girl prepares tea, and the mister his coffee...
We all have to function around the island in this small kitchen.
We better leave the kitchen and go into my office, which was previously the main dining room. On special occasions or when we have guests, we still use it as a dining room.
One of my latest projects in this little passageway was adding a plate rack on the side of the fridge. I see it every time I walk to my office—that's where you can find me, well, besides my garage or shop.

Since I spend a good amount of time in this room, the decor keeps on changing almost weekly. :)
This time, I wanted to create a fresh spring feel with plants and repurposed items, as if I was already starting my garden inside this room.
Some pieces of my clear glass bottle collection made it to the shelves.
And, well, yeah, this room gives me good Spring vibes!
Build-ins | Coffered ceiling | Door Trim |
The last wall art piece I created for this spot was on display for only a month... A simple old window with some botanical prints better suited for the spring re-do.
This bench is where my son plays games on his cell phone while I work on my posts. Of course, all those pillows go to the floor while he lies down here.

A bird's eye view of my desk area. I'm so loving that plant. Those little flowers cascading over the white bowl are adorable. The bowl was a couple dollars thrifty find. ;)
Scissors | Clothespins | Twine |
The other thrifty score was these soup bowls I used to plant the daffodils. A six-piece set for only $10—just awesome!
I built two trays to mount the six plants using wooden pieces from the scrap pile. This is an easier way to bring them close to the sink during watering days.

On the other side of the room, my giant chalkboard welcomes Spring.
Chalkboard | Chair | Table | Plate Rack | Pendant light
The living room sports a gallery on its main wall. I'm still unsure about this gallery configuration, but it works for now.
Coffee Table | Rug | Pink pillow
Pink is the color I wanted to incorporate into my decor this Spring.
After a long winter that doesn't want to go (we're expecting snow tomorrow and the day after. 😠), those bright Spring days are a welcomed sight!
I hope you enjoyed the tour. Happy Spring!!
This is the last stop on the tours today, but tomorrow morning, my friend April from House By Hoff will open the doors of her beautiful home, dressed in its best Spring attire.

Your home tour is so gorgeous. I love all of the details. Truly it is eye candy.
ReplyDeleteLove the plate rack on the fridge wall. Such a wonderful idea. I used your tutorial to box in the space above my cabinets and am in the process of painting them this week. A fridge wall will be next since we see the side of it from the dining room. Ick! I love all the molding you used but have not been able to find the 1/4 by 1/2 inch half round molding which I would like for other projects around the house.
ReplyDeleteI love your touches of spring. They're so needed after a long, dreary winter. It is actually snowing here today in Massachusetts but is supposed to be near 70 by Saturday. Fingers crossed spring is finally coming.
Hi Sharon, how wonderful to hear you're giving new life to your kitchen! You're going to love it... I want to see it! The plate rack on the side of the fridge is such a simple idea that I don't know why I didn't do it sooner. Hey, every little inch of storage space counts. ;)
DeleteAs for the round molding, try finding a lumber store near you. they usually carry different sizes of that molding and they also have better prices than the big stores, when you buy in bulk (more than 8').
Here in Maryland is still cold, I can't imagine how cold must be up there in Massachusetts. It looks like Saturday is gonna be a good painting day. :D 👍
