Are you visiting from Hi Sugarplum?
Oh, I adore Cassie's kitchen with the striking tiled backsplash. You have to visit her if you still need to.
I'm so glad you're here; today is my birthday, and I couldn't be happier you're celebrating with me. :)
As soon as September arrives, apples fill the fruit bowl on the kitchen island.
The second batch of homemade apple sauce is coming soon. For now, apple juice is the closest thing we have—after the real, fresh apples.
My kitchen decor is always minimal. Fruits, vegetables, or branches from the backyard bring in the season's colors.
Artichokes and a mum plant from the garden give the table that earthy feel.
Handmade placemats and a rustic jar holding the utensils complete the setup.
The kitchen, breakfast, and family room combine to create one long room. At this very end, the fireplace takes command.
You can check all the details about this fall mantel right HERE.
Pillows and throw blankets for the cold days ahead are some of the items that make this a very comfy spot.
It's also where the whole family gathers to watch TV or hang out.
I don't show this wall much on the blog, but here it is; the infamous TV wall.
The floating shelf above the TV was decorated with white vases and the few hydrangeas my garden produced this year.
I kept waiting for them, but only four popped up.
I had to make them last longer.
Sigh.
The vintage sideboard is here, too, close to the kitchen table.
All the cleaning it went thru is a thing of the past, I'm just enjoying it now.
Branches and paper leaves served as decor for the glass hurricane candle holders.
A piece of tree bark found in the woods holds three tiny pumpkins.
Let's move on into the dining room, the view coming from the kitchen.
Pine cones and white dishes are displayed on the narrow shelves.
A quick setup of this table was also done. My old herb planter came in handy as a centerpiece. Pumpkin seeds top each plate.
Adjacent to the dining room is the living room.
Yep, I'm still at it...
Dressing up those old windows for the seasons is so easy and cheap. Really!
I usually use wrapping paper, which costs only three bucks, and voila, a gigantic piece of art.
This time, Postcards.
I found the paper at Marshall's.
The metal tray on the coffee table is also art. ;)
And to keep up with the postcard theme in this room, a vignette on a dresser holds a snail mail center.
Well, that's the end of my tour. I usually decorate the main level of my home. I really hope you've enjoyed it.
But wait! Let's continue our celebration at Dimples and Tangles, where Jennifer awaits us!
