Well, we're still a few months away from Christmas, but here I was, looking at my Christmas stash trying to find the old poinsettias I bought about five years ago.
Why you might ask?
Because I couldn't find any at the craft stores! :(
And because I was selected to participate in the Hometalk - Lamps Plus Holiday Design Challenge which is pretty exciting :D
A Clear Glass Ovo Table Lamp was sent to us to be filled or decorated for the holidays. I wanted to incorporate red in my design, maybe because my last year's Christmas decorations were blue. So, as soon as I received the lamp and knew how easy it was to open it, I decided to make it a "floral arrangement".
Glittering red poinsettias came to my mind!
A trip to the craft store was a total failure. Even though they already had some Christmas decorations, they didn't have poinsettias! That's when I had to go to my basement to look through my stash :/ I knew I had them, but I also knew they were not pretty.
Time to make them beautiful!
The petals were brushed with glue, followed by a shower of glitter.
Some leaves got the same treatment.
A sparkling jewel was hot glued in its center.
Floral tape was used to tied the flowers together and to disguise the lamp's center pole.
A bed of white and silver pearls was laid at the bottom.
Finally, a piece of ribbon was attached around the top of the lampshade.
I love this lamp!
Remember the saying...Everything looks good under a cloche?
Well, in this case, everything looks good inside this lamp!
