My Christmas decorating began last weekend, and as usual, the first place we took care of was the mantel.
We spend a lot of time in this; our family room/kitchen area and all the changes I keep bringing to this room are all well worth it; we enjoy them!
This year, I've been on a blue craziness; of course, the primary color for the mantel had to be blue. It began with this bubble wreath inspiration from the CB2 Blog HERE. They have a great tutorial on how to put together that wreath.
Some changes were made to their design to make it work best for me.

Some changes were made to their design to make it work best for me.
I first created a plywood frame to drive the nails to it, not to the mantel.
Second, the nails I used were the skinny nails (2") I use with my nail machine; their heads are tiny. Besides, I couldn't find large, regular, thin nails of that size.
Third, I only used some of the bubble balls they used on theirs because of the size and mainly price!

I used 10 of the small bubble balls they sell ($1.95 each), and they are the biggest in my setup.
I bought three more different sizes of regular Christmas ball ornaments in clear and silver.
Finally, the board was painted blue, and before the paint dried, some glitter was added.

When we returned to admire our job, my kids wanted to add something else. They proposed adding some scattered snowflakes around it (They were having a good time using the snowflake punching machine), and I liked their idea!
I decorated the blue and White Christmas stockings last year with a sparkly snowflake ornament.
A snowy yarn garland holds some blue ball ornaments.
Sweater Christmas cones on each side wrap up the winter scene.
These five small snow friends bring an excellent pop of color and lots of fun.
The decorations continue today, Black Friday, with our Christmas tree. Next week, I'll be showing it to you.

ReplyDeleteJust beautiful, Christina! I love the snowmen, and I just think that blue is perfect for winter decorating. I also really like the idea of the ornaments hung on a yarn garland--clever! I don't have as many blue ornaments as you do, but a few, so I did a little blue vignette with mine.
