The last time I showed you my bookcases they looked like this:
I like them kind of plain, not too much stuff in there, white is perfectly fine with me, but I love to see white bookcases where the back has been painted any color, yellow, green, blue.. and I wanted to do that. The problem was deciding what color to choose and knowing me, sticking to that color for a long time, since who wants to keep on painting those backs all the time!
The perfect solution came a couple of weeks ago when I spotted this cute shelf liner with the quatrefoil design, for only six dollars (Tj Maxx), it was something good to try.
The liner went on pretty quickly and easily, no need for paint or glue. As soon as the paper went up, I was ready to decorate the bookcases.
And for that, I had big help! My number one helper volunteered himself to clean some of the silver pieces I got at the flea market. First time doing this chore and he was amazed by the change. ;)
We also got some branches and other decorations. Here is the first bookcase,
I love the vibrant shades of red and orange on those little "berries".
As soon as my friend Katie from Creatively Living posted about the Dollar store black crows, I knew I had to go and get some!
Some little white pumpkins,
and my favorite! Mr. Owl, by the side of a bird's nest I found while biking with my son.
Candy corns that keep on disappearing,
and some of the shiny and tarnished pieces of silver.
A black crow on a branch at the top.
Spray painted pears,
books, other silver pieces and white vases. I love the white vase with the flower design, it was a flea market find, only 25 cents.
And last but not least my latest indulgence, a little bike I couldn't put back on the shelf when I saw it at Target. I love bikes and I was looking for one but they were usually too big for my liking, this one was the perfect size and style, the price, not too good! 30 bucks! I'm feeling a bit guilty for spending so much on it, but I guess sometimes it is OK to give ourselves little presents ;)
Let's see for how long I can keep this shelf liner!
Cristina...these are drop dead gorgeous! I have that same shelf liner that I bought for a future project from TJ Maxx too! I love what you did with it. Your pieces on your shelving really stand out against that beautiful color. They should be in a magazine. :) Megan

What a fabulous idea! Your bookcases look awesome! Love, love the aqua color!
ReplyDeleteLisa
I think everyone is looking for a little change, but nothing drastic. Aqua is playful and happy, not too dark and not too light. I would use it as an accent to bring some freshness to a bathroom or a bedroom. It gives fresh and calmness to your home. I never try aqua for my bookshelves but it seems that I need to have a try on it.
ReplyDeleteYour bookcases look so lovely!
